Everything YOU need to know before you travel to Boston Massachusetts in the USA. Boston is the hub of New England, in the Northeast of the United States. Visiting Boston is like a history class in person. Boston is the cradle of much of the US’s history including playing a significant role in the American Revolution, having the first public library in the US, and the first lighthouse. Boston is a city of Neighborhoods, with 23 distinct neighborhoods. Boston has lots of Parks -- public green space is 17 percent of the city. You are never more than a half mile from a park. Boston is very compact.. Downtown Boston is roughly 2 square miles. About 13% of Boston citizens commute by foot, giving it the highest percentage of pedestrian commuters in major cities of the United States.

2 - Top Attractions

Freedom trail
A red-brick path connecting the most famous sites. 2.5 miles long.
16 of Boston’s most historic sites including:
Faneuil Hall Marketplace, the Paul Revere House and Old North Church.

North End
The end of the Freedom Trail, and home to Boston’s Little Italy district.
Make sure to get a cannoli from Mike’s Pastry or Modern Pastry.

Boston Common was declared America’s first public park in 1634
Right next to it is the Boston Public Garden, America’s first Botanic Garden

JFK Presidential Library
All about the life of the US’s 35th president… a bit of the beaten path, but worth it for history buffs.

Beacon Hill
Known as Boston’s most “beautiful” neighborhood
Known for its charming, narrow cobblestone streets, federal style row houses and gaslit streetlamps. It’s also considered to be one of Boston’s most desirable and expensive residential areas in the city

Fenway Park
Home to the Boston Red Sox, built in 1912, it’s the Oldest Major League Baseball Stadium still in use.

3 - Food

Quincy Market
great gathering spot and place for lunch, with over 35 stands offering a wide food selection.

Seafood

Scrod - Catch of the day

Chowders, Lobster Rolls

Italian Food

Dunkin Donuts started here.. And yes, there’s one on every corner.

Beer: Visit the Sam Adams Brewery opened in 1984. Tours are free.. And with free beer tasting!

There’s **NO HAPPY HOUR**
Boston has banned after work drink specials. Time-of-day deals are limited to food. So you’ll find cheap food options from 4pm-6pm, but not alcohol.

4 - Getting In

You’ll likely be flying in to Boston Logan International Airport, which is just a short 3 miles away from Boston. 40 airlines that serve Boston, and 3 hotels onsite

You can also take the Blue Line Subway, but you have to take the Massport shuttle bus to get to the Subway stop.

Bus: Silver Line SL1 will take you in to the city along the waterfront to South Station -- it’s free for passengers arriving at the airpor

5 - Getting Around

Getting around Boston is like navigating a maze

6 - When to go

Summer is peak tourist season (June-August)
But locals recommend Fall, September & October. The leaves are changing color, and the weather is much more pleasant.
Winter is cold! And long! With lots of snow! You’ve been warned!
Spring often has lots of rain.
Biggest Holidays are St Patrick’s Day and the Boston Marathon
Re-enactment of the Boston Tea Party every year on DECEMBER 16

7 - Language

English.. But the Boston accent is pretty thick, and there’s some interesting local slang
Not everyone has the Boston Accent… but you’ll definitely hear it

8 - Wicked Wifi

I mentioned Wifi means good… Wicked Wifi is the cities metropolitan wifi network. The SSID is “WickedFreeWifi”

9 - Hotels

Boston is old, and so are the hotels and AirBNBs. If you are expecting an elevator and A/C, call to check in advance.

10 - Universities

More than 20 colleges in Boston alone… and Harvard, and MIT which are technically not in Boston, but in Cambridge across the river.

140,000 college students call Boston home.
Makes for lots of cheap eats, and nightlife options.

Western Europe: The Ultimate Travel Guide by TourRadar gives you all the info you need to explore Europe like a pro. Learn some basics about the region and its countries, find out what you have to do & see once you arrive, when it's best to travel and which food & drinks you definitely have to try.
-----------------------------------------------
Western Europe is a historically rich destination, responsible for birthing some of the greatest minds of our time. Walk the streets of ancient cities like Rome, spend your days sailing the Balkans, or breathe in the fresh Alpine air of Switzerland. Whatever activity beckons to you, Western Europe will not disappoint.

The region is home to over 10 different countries, each with their own unique culinary offerings, adventurous activities and impressive landscapes. Consider booking a tour that allows you to see many of the region’s best highlights, without missing the subtleties you can enjoy as a backpacker:
http://www.tourradar.com/b/western-europe

Remember to pack clothes appropriate for the region you’re visiting, and if you’re planning on travelling during peak season consider adjusting your expected travel times accordingly. Depending on the season you travel, pack everything from your swimsuit to your thermal hiking boots.

Throughout most of Western Europe you'll be paying for things in euros but other currencies will include the Icelandic krona, Norwegian krone, Danish krone, Swiss franc, and the Pound sterling. Credit card and debit transactions are quite common, so simply consult your bank regarding the international transaction fees before you depart and you should be quite alright. Dining out doesn’t have to be expensive if you visit the right restaurants, and you'll have to cross off the classics like wiener schnitzel, fried churro, waterzooi and rataouille. Be sure to sample the Irish stout beer, Guinness, while you're at it too!

Perhaps the best part of Europe? You can explore it anyway you like! Whether you're into the hop-on-hop-off experience provided by tour operators like Busabout (http://www.tourradar.com/o/busabout/europe), or wish to indulge in Europe's elegance via river cruise with CroisiEurope (http://www.tourradar.com/o/cro....isieurope-river-crui or simply just looking to let loose at Spain's best parties with Stoke Travel (http://www.tourradar.com/o/stoke-travel/europe), there's something for every type of traveller in Western Europe.

— About Western Europe —
The most common countries referred to as belonging under the umbrella of Western Europe include Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, and finally, the United Kingdom.

Well, welcome to Italy! This week we're exploring the fashion capital of Europe. We're here in Milan. But of course there is more to do in Milan than just go shopping. So we're going to be showing you 20 attractions around town.

We had 3 days in Milan so we hit the ground running and tried to see and do as much as possible. We made time for major attractions like Il Duomo, Sforza Castle, and Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, but we also veered away from the crowds in search of street art and interesting neighborhoods. This being Italy, we also tried to prioritize meals, sampling everything from pizza to risotto, and cappuccinos to aperitivos. The following travel guide will highlight 20 things to do when you visit Milan, Italy

1) Milan Catherdral (Il Duomo - Duomo di Milano - Domm de Milan)
2) Il Duomo Terrace
3) Italian Breakfast - Cappuccino and sweet Italian pastries
4) Sforza Castle - Castello Sforzesco
5) The Galleria - Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II
6) Risotto alla Milanese - Milan style risotto
7) Street Art around Porta Ticinese
8) Colonne di San Lorenzo - Columns of San Lorenzo Roman Ruins
9) Boat tour down the c**** (linea traghetti gaggiano milano)
10) Dine along the c**** in Milan's Navigli District
11) Aperitivo drinks and buffet - Apéritifs and digestifs
12) Shopping in Milan down Via Torino
13) Visiting Chinatown for some Chinese food
14) Ride a bicycle in Milan like a local
15) Pizza al taglio (pizza al trancio) Italian pizza by the slice
16) Basilica of Sant'Eustorgio containing relics of the 3 Magi
17) Duomo Museum covering the cathedrals history in-depth
18) New City Views with a hop-on-hop-off bus pass
19) Museum of Natural History - Museo Civico di Storia Naturale di Milano
20) Night views of Milan nearby Il Duomo

Our trip to Milan, Lombardy was part of the Blogville project where we stayed in a local apartment and experienced all of the best cultural activities, museums, restaurants, arts and entertainment the city has to offer. This city guide is our best attempt to create a mix of best attractions and off-the-beaten-path activities that you won't necessarily find in a typical Milan tourism brochure.

20 Things to do in Milan Italy Travel Guide Video Transcript:

Our first stop was Il Duomo, which is the most recognized attraction in the city. The cathedral took nearly six centuries to complete.

So we've sat down at a little cafe and we're going to have our first Italian breakfast with cappuccino and sweet pastries.

Something that surprised us about Milan is that there is a castle right in the middle of the city. Sforza Castle was built in the 15th century by the Duke of Milan, and it then underwent several restorations and expansions in the following centuries. Today it houses several of the city's most prized art possessions, including frescoes by Leonardo da Vinci and Michelangelo's very last sculpture.

For some upscale designer shopping, Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II is the place to be.

So we just found a local little restaurant and we're going to be trying a traditional dish that is very popular in this city and in the Lombardy region. We are going to have Risotto alla Milanese.

The Colonne di San Lorenzo are the remains of Roman ruins that date back to the 2nd century. They are believed to have been part of a bath house.

Another fun activity to try in Milan is a boat tour of the c****s. The city's c****s are attributed to Leonardo Da Vinci, who in 1482 was called over by the Duke of Milan to help renovate the city’s c**** system.

Milan's Navigli District is one of the liveliest parts of town especially when the sun goes down for dining al fresco.

So we've gone out for our first Italian Aperitivo. Which is kind of like a pre-dinner drinking tradition. Basically, you get yourself a cocktail for about 10 Euros and that gives you access to this massive buffet.

And that's all for our visit to Milan. We hope this video will give you some cool ideas of sights and attractions to check out.

This is part of our Travel in Italy series showcasing Italian culture, Italian arts, Italian foods & Italian cuisine.

When ready, browse vacation packages to Dublin: https://www.expedia.com/Dublin.....d178256.Destination

Despite a long and sometimes tragic history of invasion and resistance, this thriving business capital has poetry, music and literature percolating through its cobblestones.

While #Dublin proudly honours its past, it is equally passionate about enjoying each and every new day. Nowhere is life celebrated more than in the city’s nearly 700 pubs.

Of all the gifts, Dublin has given to the world, perhaps the most intoxicating are its stories. Originally built for the sons of the Irish gentry, the ivy-covered stone buildings of Trinity College are home to some of the oldest remaining manuscripts in the world, including the 1000-year-old Book of Kells.

Dubliner Jonathan Swift, once said, “May you live all the days of your life.” There is no better way to define Dublin. Its passion for life is contagious, captivating and sure to stay with you after your #vacation here for the rest of your days.

For now, we hope you enjoy watching this #travel #guide as much as we enjoyed making it.

Want more than a caffeine buzz from your Melbourne #vacation? You’re in luck. Melbourne sits on the banks of the Yarra River, and you’ve got your pick of cathedrals, parks, and giant buildings to explore, as well as an extensive streetcar network to help you get from one place to the next.

Lisbon – Welcome to the capital of Portugal. Explore the hilly streets of this coastal city and take in the rich culture here. Check out the top spots to visit.

When ready, browse vacation packages to Lisbon: https://www.expedia.com/Lisbon....-District.d178278.De

From a Phoenician outpost to 16th-century trading giant, from the Great Earthquake of 1755 to its glorious reconstruction, #Lisbon has long been a city of shifting fortunes.

On a #visit to the waterfront, find the city’s grand gateway, Praça do Comércio. Pass beneath the triumphal arch, a tribute to the city’s reconstruction, and on to Rua Augusta to another of Lisbon’s great squares, the Rossio.

Climb aboard Tram 28, which passes some of the city’s most iconic sights, then climb the battlements of Castelo de São Jorge to see the red-tiled roofs of Lisbon spread out before you.

Although the Great Earthquake reduced much of Lisbon to rubble, the ancient suburb of Alfama was spared. Lose yourself amid the cobblestones, where cafes, bars and artisan shops have taken residence in the dockworkers’ homes of old.

A #vacation here will reward you with some of Europe’s most beautiful beaches.

Hawaii’s Big Island – The “Big Island” of Hawaii is (you guessed it) the largest of the Hawaiian Islands and offers a stunning array of beautiful scenery for you to explore. Check out the best sights and activities on the island, here!

When ready, browse vacation packages to Hawaii’s Big Island: https://www.expedia.com/Hawaii....-Island.d180074.Dest

The Onomea Bay Scenic Drive, located along the Hamakua Coast, will take you past shimmering emerald rainforest and astonishing glimpses of the tranquil Pacific Ocean. It’s the perfect place to get some pictures and see what the beauty of Hawaii is really about.

No #tour of Hawaii’s Big Island is complete without meeting the sea turtles of Kahalu’u Bay. Strap on your snorkel and swim around the warm, blue-green waters of the bay to meet turtles and thousands of other sea creatures.

Try out paddleboarding, jet skiing, or a variety of other watersports. Alternatively, spoil yourself in the time-honored indulgence of relaxing on the black lava sands, soaking up some of the legendary Hawaiian sunshine.

When ready, browse vacation packages to Long Island: https://www.expedia.com/Long-I....sland.d602887.Destin

A #LongIsland #vacation sends you eastward from the New York boroughs of Brooklyn and Queens to the bluffs of Montauk Point. A short train ride from Manhattan is Long Beach, which for many is where Long Island begins. Visit Fire Island Lighthouse, which for generations of immigrants was their first glimpse of America. It was on Long Island’s northern shores where the mansions were built that would inspire F. Scott Fitzgerald’s classic, The Great Gatsby.

#Visit the Cradle of Aviation Museum in Hempstead and continue your flight into the past at the American Airpower Museum. #Explore the pioneer settlement of Southampton Village and nearby Sag Harbor, a historic whaling port immortalized in Moby Dick. The Italian city of Venice is a city like no other, rising from the waters of Venice Lagoon. Follow us through the historic streets – and c****s – and see why Venice should be firmly on your bucket list!

When ready, browse vacation packages to Venice: https://www.expedia.com/Venice.....d179981.Destination

Begin your #Venice #vacation in the central district of San Marco. Journey along one of the world’s great aquatic thoroughfares, The Grand C****. Glide past elegant palazzos; today many of these palaces house important museums and galleries.

Known as The City Of Bridges, Venice has hundreds to discover. The Accademia Bridge offers some of the Grand C****’s finest views. The oldest of the Grand C****’s four crossings is the Rialto Bridge, which serves as the gateway to the Rialto Markets. The most famous of all is the Bridge of Sighs, which connects Doge’s Palace to the historic prison.

Venice is a city to get lost in, so put away your map and let her surprise you. Just remember, this city smiles upon those who linger. So stay for a few nights, or #explore for a month, and savor every moment she has to offer.

For now, we hope you enjoy watching this #travel #guide as much as we enjoyed making it.

Cusco & Machu Picchu – In Cusco and the Sacred Valley, magnificent ruins await the adventurous traveler. The most famous of all is Machu Picchu. Follow us through this incredible region!

When ready, browse vacation packages to Cusco: https://www.expedia.com/Cusco.....d6053554.Destination

Step through time and worlds with a #vacation to #Cusco, the former capital of the Inca Empire of the Sun. Since the 16th century, Spanish colonial buildings were built atop former Inca Palaces, of which only foundations remain.

In the Urubamba Valley, or #SacredValley, visitors can see the mysterious Moray Terraces and the pre-Inca Salt Mines of Maras. Ollantaytambo is a living Inca city and its towering ruins form the start of the Inca Trail to #MachuPicchu.

The long-lost Inca bastion was uncovered from the jungle in 1911. It remains a mystery how the Incas managed to stack the heavy granite blocks that make up the city’s buildings so precisely, at high altitude.

Little is also known about how the Incas turned a multi-lingual tribal region in an empire that is now known as one of the greatest civilizations in history.

For now, we hope you enjoy watching this #travel #guide as much as we enjoyed making it.
