America has a new and growing class of homeless. In cities across the country, rents are spiking, while wages lag behind. Now long-time residents are being suddenly priced out of their homes and pushed out onto the street. Many end up struggling to survive in the shadows, sleeping in their cars, hidden from plain view and defying the conventional stereotypes of homelessness.
