Jan. 6 committee hearing details Trump's efforts
Former acting attorney general Jeffrey Rosen, former acting deputy attorney general Richard Donoghue and former assistant attorney general Steven Engel appeared before the House select committee investigating the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol on Thursday. The panel detailed former President Donald Trump’s pressure on the Justice Department to overturn the 2020 election results. In the last two weeks, the committee has outlined how Trump and his allies pushed false claims of election fraud leading up to Jan. 6, 2021. Trump then encouraged his supporters to descend on the Capitol to stop former Vice President Mike Pence from certifying the Electoral College votes. Tuesday’s hearing focused on the threats made to state lawmakers, election officials and workers in Arizona and Georgia. Former election worker Shaye Moss testified that she and her family were threatened “all because of lies” about the election being stolen.
